Every few weeks someone asks me about partner codes. Always the same thing: can you get free trades or lower spreads?
No. AvaTrade charges zero commission on forex. You pay the spread. The spread is the fee. A partner code doesn't change that.
What 128979 does is unlock check here the welcome bonus. Extra funds in your account based on how much you put in. Nothing more complicated than that.
How much do you get?
A $1,000 deposit gets you $200.
Put in $2,000, get $400.
$5,000 to $9,999 adds $1,000.
Maximum bonus is $14,000 for deposits above $100,000. Not many traders reach that level.
UK accounts start at £160 for £800 deposited. Goes to £11,200 at the top.
Minimum to open an account is $100. Bonus requires $1,000 minimum.
Finding the partner code field
When you're signing up. After you enter your phone number, you'll see small text reading "Have a Partner Code?". Click on that text. A text box appears. Type **128979**.
Most people miss it because it doesn't look like a proper form field until you click.
If the system rejects it, don't panic. Go ahead and register anyway. Reach out to your account manager first. Ask them to add code 128979. They handle this regularly.
Bonus withdrawal conditions
A trading volume condition applies.
About 10,000 units for every dollar of bonus. $200 bonus requires 2,000,000 units of trading volume. Slower if you're trading micro lots. Happens faster than you'd think if you're active.
The deposit belongs to you. Take it out anytime. Bonus funds remain locked until volume is met.
Something useful to understand: while the bonus is locked, it still counts toward your margin. Allows for slightly larger trades. Newer traders benefit from that extra cushion.
